On February 10, Brazil and the United States carried out, in Brasilia, the Fifth Dialog of Economical Partnership between the ministry of Foreign Relations and the U.S. Department of State.

During the whole day, representatives of the two countries examined the possibilities of common investments.

The United States have interest in the projects of infrastructure that integrate the second version of the Program of Acceleration of the Growth (PAC) and North American enterprises may participate in the construction of stadiums for the World Cup of 2014 and other installations for the Olympics of 2016 in the Rio de Janeiro.

Also, the areas of oil, gas, energy, ports and airports, arouse the interest of the United States.

The Secretary of State Assistant for Economy, Energy and Business, of the State Department, Jose Fernandez, affirmed to the InfoRel that “Brazil is a commercial leader in the region, a good market with many possibilities of joint actings with North American enterprises”.

According to him, the democratic-political stability and the role that Brazil fulfills in the South America are very positive for the United States.

In the evaluation of the Brazilian ambassador in Washington, Mauro Vieira, “this kind of meeting is very important, since both can talk about all the subjects, of any nature”.

“The presidents want to advance, to deepen and to enlarge the bilateral relation and we are going to have series of agreements between the two governments in March”, explained Thomas Shannon, North American ambassador in Brasilia.

The representatives of both governments treated still of initiatives on course in other countries and the joint increase of the cooperation in Africa and Haiti in themes like energy, food security, nutrition, biotechnology, biofuels, dwelling, work and social inclusion.

Delegations of Guatemala, El Salvador and Dominican Republic are in Brazil accompanied by representatives of the Organization of the American States (OAS) and of the North American government, where they discuss details of the program of bilateral cooperation in biofuels.

Brazil and the United States also intend to secure a convention between the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic and the Office of Information and Regulatory Themes of the White House, about regulatory policies.

USAID

The Brazilian Agency of Cooperation (ABC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Program of Professional Exchange.

Mark Lopes, from the USAID, and Minister Marco Farani, from ABC, signed the document that will allow the implementation of a program of exchange of personnel between the two agencies.

For the North American government, the initiative will level the joint efforts of growth around the world.

It is the last agreement of a series of trilateral initiatives between the United States and Brazil to enjoy of the experiences of development and of research of each other.

Starting in April, the USAID will have an official in the offices of the ABC and the ABC will have an official in the office of the USAID, sharing expertise and contributing to joint programs.

Obama

On February 9, the Ambassador of Brazil in Washington D.C., Mauro Vieira, was in the ministry of the Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, in audience with Minister Fernando Pimentel.

The agenda of the meeting included the visit, predicted for March, of the president of the United States, Barack Obama. It will be the first official travel of the North American president to Brazil, where he will have a meeting with president Dilma Rousseff.

The agenda is still being negotiated but, among the themes that will be discussed, there are the economical and commercial relations between Brazil and the United States.
